  • Hate living here, i want t leave but not leave my girlfriend.

For a long time now i get into constant fights with my parents. I try to change how i am and be better and even took many approaches to the beginning of a fight. i hate living here, im really over it and want to just run away ive thought of it many times but do not want to then have to leave my girlfriend she means alot to me and has always been there i see a future with her after the year and a half ive been with her so leaving her is out of the question. plus leaving my school. the past summer ive got into such a bad fight my mom put both hands around my throat and pressed me on the wall basically choking me. they show no respect for me and even told me that. when she chocked me she didnt think nothing of it. and wouldnt even apologize. they make me feel like ******** and i have no clue what to do. i am pretty smart and can do great at so many jobs so maybe i can find something on my own and do my own thing. its just after all this time im so over it all here. and nothing is changing and i dont think will.

    Hi there,

Thanks for reaching out tonight and sharing your story with us. It certainly sounds like you’re going through a lot right now and have been for quite some time. It sounds really exhausting for you. You’ve tried some ways to improve the situation, but nothing seems to be working. That must be really frustrating. Also, your mom is wrong to hurt you and treat you like that. You absolutely deserve a safe and supportive living environment. It was smart of you to reach, so let’s see how we can help you out.

It sounds like there are some things that are keeping you at home. Sometimes running, as you know, can involve sacrificing a lot. It sounds like for you those things are your girlfriend and your education. And it also sounds like there are valid reason for wanting to leave. So it certainly is a decision to make. If you do decide to stay at home, who can you reach out to support you until you are able to leave? Sometimes a good way to make it through is to build up as much support around you as possible. Thinking about people from school, neighborhood, friends, church, community centers, etc can be a helpful thing.

If you decide to leave, we are here to talk through places where you might be able to stay and ways to stay safe. You can call us 24 hours a day at 1-800-RUNAWAY (786-2929). We are confidential and anonymous. If you can’t call, you can chat with us through our website ( from 4.30pm-11.30pm Central Time. We are here to talk through anything and support you in any way we can through all of this.

We look forward to your call or chat.

    Best of luck,

Please remember you can reach us directly by calling our 24 hour hotline, 1-800-RUNAWAY (786-2929) or through our Live Chat.
