Re: I just make it worse.
Hello,
Thank you for contacting the National Runaway Switchboard and we hope that we can provide a valid response to the question you asked. We are not in the position to tell you what to do but we want to be there for you. Why are you so hard on yourself? You said some things about what you feel or was made to feel about yourself and while we cannot tell you how or what to feel we want you to know that you never judge you here and only seek to talk about ways to have you remain safe. Running away is not illegal so you are not going to jail if you run but it gives you a status as a runaway if you were to run and your parents filed a runaway report. It means that the cops are responsible to bring you home if you were caught or hold you until your parents come to get you. It is illegal to harbor a runaway so it is important that you know where you plan to stay and think about not risking others in the process. We want to hear from you if you choose to speak to you in person if you wanted to vent a bit. Unfortunately, we cannot tell you to run away or even to stay home because only you can know for sure what you are faced with. We can only take about how to remain safe and whether or not you have a plan in place. Do you know where you are headed and what is your expectation for what is going to be like when you run away? Where might you stay and with whom you are planning to stay with? Do you have any money for food, etc? The only place you can stay legally if you ran would be a shelter and they are required to call your parents for notification or consent. We hope that you take this time to think about some of the questions we asked. Please let us know more about the situation at home and why you feel the way you do. Until that time stay strong and good luck.
