RE: running away in florida
Hi there,
Thanks for posting here and sharing your story. It sounds like you’ve been dealing with some really hard things for so long. You were so brave to contact the police. It sounds like you’ve been trying to protect yourself. You grandma is wrong to treat you that way. You absolutely don’t deserve that. So let’s see how we can help you out tonight.
Like we said before, it was brave of you to contact the police. If you don’t want to go through them, you can always contact child protective services and share your story with them. Now, you’re right, there is no guarantee that they will do something. We can say however, that if you have scars and because you are 15 years old, they are more likely to act and help to protect you. If calling child protective services is a way you’d like to go you can call then 24 hours a day at 1-800-962-2873.
You also asked for some places where you might be able to go in order to be safe. One of those places is called Youth Crisis Center. You can call them at (904) 720-0007 or (877) 720-0007 to see if they have space available and other ways that they might be able to help you.
If you’d like help calling either the Youth Crisis Center or to make a report, you can call us 24 hours a day at 1-800-RUNAWAY (786-2929). We are confidential and anonymous. We are here to support you during this time. If you can’t call in, you can chat with us through our website (www.1800runaway.org) from 4.30pm-11.30pm Central Time.
We look forward to your call or chat.
We wish you the absolute best.

running away in florida
hello I'm 15 years old and I've been getting abused for so long. I literately have scars all over my body. I moved from Virginia to Florida 2 years ago but I called the police there and they showed up. My grandma was there and of course they listened to the 75 year old rather than the 12 year old. But it was also because I'd apparently waited to long to call. But now the abuse has started all over and I'm not sure I can trust the police to do anything here in Florida. For years I had been planning to run away but I decided I could stick it out until I graduated in 2 years and now I'm really fed up. I can't take it anymore and I wanted to know if there were any facilities in Jacksonville Florida that take care of teenage runaways.Tags: None
