    re: shelter?

Thank you for reaching out to the National Runaway Safeline. It sounds like you are thinking of running away and want to stay somewhere for a few nights. Every shelter is different but if you call our crisis line we can contact shelters with you to see what their program requires. You asked about legal issues regarding running away, and although we're not legal experts we can say that in most places, if you are under 18 you are still legally obligated to stay with your guardians. Please contact us at 1-800-RUNAWAY (786-2929), confidential and anonymous 24/7, and we can look up some resources in your area. If you can't get to a phone or feel more comfortable using the computer, you can always respond to us through live chat from 4:30-11:30pm CST. We hope that you will contact us so we can talk more about your situation and connect you with some resources in your city and state. Best wishes,

Please remember you can reach us directly by calling our 24 hour hotline, 1-800-RUNAWAY (786-2929) or through our Live Chat.
