Re: My friend need help ASAP

    Hello,

Thank you for contacting the National Runaway Safeline. We are sorry to hear about the way that your friend is being treated by her parents, no one deserves to be treated that way. It is great to hear that you told your friend about NRS. NRS is an anonymous, confidential 24hr crisis line, so if your friend were to call us she would not need to tell us her name, or any other identifying information, and what she talks about would be kept private.

Just to let you know, we are mandated reporters. This means that if she shares identifying information (like names, city/state, addresses, etc.) and says she is being abused, then we would have to pass along this information to Child Protective Services (CPS).

NRS would be able to further explore the situation that your friend is in, and offer her resources in her area such as shelter or counseling referrals. We can be reached at 1-800-Runaway (786-2929) 24/7, or on Live Chat, which is available 4:30pm to 11:30pm (CST) at our website 1800runaway.org

We look forward to hearing from your friend.

    Take care,
    NRS
