  • I'm so sick

I've been thinking about running away from home for atl east 3 years now but I can't work up the courage to do it. I've got a bag packed and everything and then I tell my bestfriend who immediately freaks out, comes to y house, unpacks the bag, then leaves. I want to leave because of the way my parents and brothers...and sometimes "friends"... treat me. I recently tried calling you guys but I hung up because I was to scared to do it. I've thought about suicide as well. I've never openly shared that though. I don't know what to do. Please help me.

    RE: I'm So Sick

    Hello,

We appreciate you taking this moment to share your thoughts and feelings with us. It sounds like you are going through quite a lot right now. We thank you for opening up to us and trusting us with your story. We are here for you. You are not alone. We hope we can provide a service to you in some way whether it is offering resources or being here to provide emotional support.

You mentioned you have had thoughts of suicide. How have you been coping? One resource you might find helpful is the National Suicide Hotline at 1-800-273-TALK (8255). They are experts in this field whereas we can listen to you and support you but we cannot tell you what to do. We are not in the position to tell you what to do. We try to focus on a plan to remain safe. Do you feel safe right now? How long have you been feeling this way?

We want to listen to how you are feeling. The hope is that you will call us to talk about ways to remain safe or to talk about a plan if you are thinking about running away. We cannot talk you out of it but we can explore alternatives to running away. Have you thought about sitting down with your parents to explain how you are feeling? It must not be easy for you to constantly put up with how they are treating you. Have you considered counseling as an option?

We have resources in our database if you feel this is something that you need help with. It sounds like you have a friend who knows a bit of what is going on. It is good to hear that you have someone you can confide in. It is safe for you to also confide in us. We are here to talk 24 hours a day at 1800RUNAWAY (786-2929). Do you think this is something you are able to do? We are confidential and anonymous. Stay strong.

    -NRS
Please remember you can reach us directly by calling our 24 hour hotline, 1-800-RUNAWAY (786-2929) or through our Live Chat.
