  • Don't know anymore

I have all these mixed feelings about things at home and I don't know what to do anymore. I feel like whenever I talk, no one is listening to me at all. I'm always happy to come home from school excited to share something with my mom and as I'm telling her she's on her phone and I sometimes do take too long to tell a story or something but when I do it takes even longer when my sister and mom join in to say things making me feel bad. Also, I'm stuck at home all the time with my sister since my mom has been working a lot lately and it seems like we keep getting into a lot of fights. And the only reason we fight a lot is because I hate when she has a attitude with me and starts cussing me out for no reason at all when I haven't done anything to her. And when I do tell my mom about it she doesn't even say anything to her about it and just let's it slide. She keeps doing it and everytime I try to ask my mom to do something about it we end up getting into a fight. We yell at each other and when I do walk away to calm down, something she has told me before when fighting with my sister, while I'm in the other room I hear her saying things about me that hurts me and she doesn't even know that I hear her. And lately every little thing my mom and sister say to me that isnt meant to hurt me just does and I take it to heart. It hurts me so much and I don't know what to do anymore. I have no one to really talk to or ask for advise since I feel so distance from a lot of my friends from not really being able to get out of the house to do something with them.

Thank you for contacting the National Runaway Switchboard and sharing your story. We’re sorry to hear about the emotional distress you’re experiencing with your mom and sister. It sounds like they’re not very good at listening to you whether it be telling a story or expressing how they make you feel.

If you need someone to talk to you can always give us a call at our toll free confidential hotline 1-800-RUNAWAY (786-2929) or you can chat with us live any day from 4:30-11:30pm central time. We can discuss the situation further and explore some options. We hope this helped.
