  • I cant take it..

I just can't take it. At school Im perfectly fine, I laugh and joke around with my friends and we have a good time. But whenever I get home its a whole different story. No one understands me and they call me unappreciative and disrespectful just because I cry when I need to and walk away trying not make the situation even worse. But the real problem Is the one with my sister we've been getting Into really bad fights and including only one of them tonight. They all just start of with a question and it leads into something more, and she started basically choking me and pushed me. But how am I supposed to fight back when she is like 5 years old than me and bigger than me. Whenever my mother sees me crying about it and I just say "please leave me alone, don't touch me." She calls me spoiled and disrespectful because she doesnt know what is going on. I wouldn't like to tell her, but she has offered me seeing a therapist or counseler but I dot know.. Well tonight I attempted to run away because I couldn't take it anymore, but I only made it past my drive way because I had nothing with me and no place to go. My mom saw me outside and just yelled at me. My whole family thinks im crazy and I think im going insane. I dont belong in this family, I wish I was never born actually, at least not into this family.Things have changed since a year ago, and I don't like it now..

    RE: I cant take it

Thank you for contacting us at the National Runaway Switchboard for support. We also provide resources. We appreciate you opening up to us about your situation. It sounds really stressful. You deserve to feel safe in your own home. You mentioned your sister is older and stronger and that may the reason you do not push back and your mother is aware and does nothing to help you. What is happening to you is not fair. Are there ways you can avoid your sister when she comes at you this way? It is clear that you cannot take it anymore. You have tried to run away and you did not make it far. What are things you can think of that you can do to avoid the tension?

We are here for you. You are not alone. We can help if you just need someone to listen to you. We can provide a listening ear and all of our liners are trained the same way to provide you with resources. It may help you to have someone to vent to or just to have someone who is impartial to your situation. We do not take sides. We cannot tell you what to do but we want to hear from you if you need to talk.

We are confidential and anonymous but we are also mandated reporters. We can report any wrongdoing at your home. Have you reported any of these incidences to an adult such as a teacher or school counselor? Since you are hit on and if you feel unsafe at home we are here to do what you feel is best to remain safe. You deserve to be heard and respected. We are here 24 hours a day and can be reached at 1800RUNAWAY. We have a database with resources such as counseling if that is something you may consider. Is there a counselor at school that you can trust?

We hope that you understand that the answers you are seeking through us is strictly on the basis that we cannot give you direct advice but to simply explore options with you. We hope to hear from you soon. Good luck and stay strong.

Please remember you can reach us directly by calling our 24 hour hotline, 1-800-RUNAWAY (786-2929) or through our Live Chat.
