Re: I Cant Take It Anymore
Hello,
Thank you for reaching out to us for support. We imagine based on what you wrote that this must be quite a difficult time you are having. You seem to be suggesting that your parents have gone overboard with their approach to what news they received when you were told you have a "mild case of ADHD." It sounds like you are feeling a bit overwhelmed with their methods lately. When they offered you a tutor, was it because of grades? We are unsure how ADHD connects to needing a tutor unless your grades were suffering at the time. Were there any benefits to these sources when you met with these doctors?
We are glad to hear that things are looking up. Do you share these thoughts and feelings with friends or other family members? Does your teachers know about what is happening at home with you? We are not in a position to tell you what to do but we can report what you described with your father. We are confidential and anonymous at our hotline but we are also mandated reporters. What has happened to you is not your fault. We hear the issue with you stating that you used a certain word.
We understand families may deal with conflicts in different ways. Although we cannot place words in your mouth for what has happened we can frankly agree with what you state. However, you do not deserve to be treated this way. As stated we are mandated reporters. We can report what has happened to your regional child and family services. We do not guarantee the outcome of such reports but we can help to advocate for your well being.
If you do want to talk about these matters you can reach out to us at 1800RUNAWAY (786-2929). We are here 24 hours a day. We wish to hear from you to offer direct emotional support. We can also provide resources local to you if that is something you feel may help. Have you thought of seeing a counselor to discuss these issues?
We cannot offer ideas on a plan you may have if you were to leave. We can speak on whether the plan is a safe one. How will you survive if you ran away to the woods? Do you see yourself living off what you caught in the wild? What do you think your parents will do if you run away? We are not legal experts but it is not considered a crime to runaway. If you are found you will be brought back home. It usually comes down to police discretion. These are all areas we can focus on more if you were to call us here. We hope that you are able to remain safe. We can also help you try to figure out ways to cope during this tough time. Good luck.
-NRSPlease remember you can reach us directly by calling our 24 hour hotline, 1-800-RUNAWAY (786-2929) or through our Live Chat.
