I'm stuck

Okay, so my family is totally unsupportive. I am a freshman, but I've gone throught alot, including saving my friends life. My parents just don't understand. They treat me like a 4 year old, and place rules that are totally impossible to meet. And they only apply for me, not my sister, who is God's little angel. My dad is always yelling at me, and sometimes, I am scared that he is going to hit me. He is very emotionally abusive. My mom just doesn't care. I basically live 2 lives, one at school that my friends believe, and the one that I live with my family that only my boyfriend knows about. He doesn't know what to do either, and soon, he is leaving to go to the air force. When he leaves, I am literally on my own.

Does anyone know what to do?

Thanks so much for contacting us and telling us a bit about your situation. It sounds like life at home for you is very difficult and has been for some time. How long have you been feeling this way? It also sounds like you don’t have a lot of support and you mentioned that your dad is very emotionally abusive. Have you tried to speak with anyone in your household about what’s going on? Do you have any other friends or family in the area that may be a source of support for you? Your boyfriend sounds like a big support for you but you also mentioned that he is going to be leaving soon to go into the Air Force and that will be very hard.

It must be difficult to feel like you have to live a different life at home. No one deserves to be abused in anyway and you certainly have the right to let someone know if your dad is being abusive. Have you or your family tried to talk with a counselor before? Do you feel it would help to have someone mediate a conversation between all of you?
