Moving out at 17 but still need to finish school

    Jbcoffman Guest
I plan on moving out of my mom's house (in Texas) as soon as I turn 17, and moving in with my boyfriend and his family (in Michigan) but still will need to finish highschool once I've moved. My mom doesn't approve of my leaving so I don't think she'd help me withdraw from my current school and enroll in my new one or sign anything making my boyfriend's parents my guardians. How can I withdraw and enroll myself without a Guardian?

    Hello,
Thanks for contacting the National Runaway Safeline.

It sounds like you have a plan to move away from your parents in Texas and relocate to live with your boyfriend and his parents. One of the issues seem to be with withdrawing from your current school without your parentís consent. It appears as if they object to your plan.
This being the case you might consider contacting your school to get the facts about withdrawing and transferring your records from one school to the next.
Another option would be to contact the school you plan to enroll at in Michigan about their requirements for transferring students.
    Does that make sense?
